Money calculators that show their working

Five tools for the questions Indian salaried people and freelancers actually ask. No signup, no ads, nothing stored, nothing sent anywhere.

Why another calculator site

Most of the existing ones are lead magnets. You put in your salary, you get a number, and then you get a call from someone selling insurance. These do not collect anything: every calculation runs in your browser, there is no server to send it to, and there is no form asking for a phone number before showing the result.

The second difference is that these show the working. A take-home figure is not very useful on its own — what you want to know is which line is eating your money and whether you picked the wrong tax regime. So every tool breaks the answer into the rows that produced it, and says plainly where an assumption has been made on your behalf.

What these are not

They are estimates for planning. Tax law has more edge cases than any calculator handles: marginal relief near surcharge thresholds, employer-specific salary structures, state-by-state professional tax, capital gains interactions. Before filing anything, or before making a decision with a lakh riding on it, talk to a CA. These tools are for the thinking you do beforehand.

Figures follow FY 2025–26 (AY 2026–27) rules. If a Budget has landed since and slabs have shifted, the numbers here will lag until they are updated.
